The amygdala itself does not forgive, and the amygdala does not forget

The way you adapt to traumatic / stress-linked memories is by having the oFC (orbitofrontal cortex) suppress amygdala activation to them upon recall. The amygdala itself does not forgive, and the amygdala does not forget. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. Without frontal lobe activation, the amygdala's response will never be attenuated. It is the classic id vs. ego.
